AWARENESS CREATION CAMPAIGN

Every operational zone of Kuapa Kokoo benefited from the awareness and sensitization drive of the organization by the field extension officers. A more detailed awareness creation and sensitization drive were also embarked on by the officers of the anti- child labour unit. Key stakeholders that were involved in these exercises were the community schools, children, teachers, parents and opinion leaders. Video shows, recorded jingle and live radio programmes, community information Centre’s, posters were key tools and platforms used to execute this task

VIDEO SHOW

An educative movie on child labour was shown to every community the anti-child labour unit visited. 133 zones/communities benefited from the movie show. About 200 to 300 indigenous people of the community were in attendance at the night video shows. This activity created a good opportunity for the officers of the unit to interact with member farmers and non-members on the content of the video which basically highlights permissible and hazardous activities children can do and not do respectively in cocoa production

INTENSIFICATION OF MONITORING AT THE COMMUNITY LEVEL

About 600 communities have trained liaison officers’ in-charge of monitoring child labour related activities at the community/zonal level, serving as watchdogs and monitors in the communities. This structure in the certification code of conduct was activated to intensify monitoring and surveillance activities especially at the hamlets and villages of the communities.

REDESIGNING OF ANTI CHILD LABOUR POSTERS

Anti-child labour posters were redesigned for awareness creation and sensitization. Five (5) different concepts were re-designed to ensure the appropriate and more interesting message is carried out to our audience. A remediation procedure has also been designed, printed and distributed to all district society offices to bring the attention of staff the procedure for remediation when a case is identified.
