Productivity Enhancement & Livelihood Support

Dynamic Agro Forestry

The Dynamic Agro Forestry (DAF) Project was commenced by KKFU in partnership with Eco Top, an organization based in Germany and Chocolats Halba, Switzerland in March, 2016.

This project is currently functioning in three zones namely: Nkawie, Alavanyo and Adumakase in Sankore Society in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana on a pilot basis and anticipated to be scaled up to other Kuapa Kokoo Communities at the end of the pilot.

The main activities under the project are;

  • Training and field installation of new cocoa farms through planting of food crops as well as timber trees without burning.
  • Rehabilitation, pruning and Timber trees planting in old cocoa farms.

The Dynamic Agro Forestry Project is designed to ensure that people and cocoa are able to mutually exist in the same environment through a farmer centered sustainable farming system.
Some major achievements of this project are;

  • Livelihood improvement of beneficiaries through reduction in cost of weeding, agro chemical inputs usage, and increased in crop productivity.
  • Dynamic agro-forestry techniques have been fully adopted by the lead farmers.
