Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has showered praises on management and staff of Kuapa Kokoo for the effort the organization has made in empowering Ghanaian cocoa farmers over the last twenty years.
The Ashanti King lauded the founding fathers of Kuapa Kokoo for their vision in bringing cocoa famers together with the objective of the farmers having a voice in their industry especially on issues pertaining to their profession and welfare.
The occasion was when a delegation comprising members of the National Executive Council (NEC), Management of Kuapa Kokoo Ltd and Kuapa Kokoo Farmers Union led by Nana Fe Baamoah – Chief of Asokwa – paid a double purpose visit to the Manhyia palace on Thursday May 15th, 2014.
The visit which offered the Kuapa delegation the opportunity of congratulating Otumfuo on his achievements since he assumed authority as the leader of the Asante kingdom 15 years ago, was also used to inform him of Kuapa’s 20th milestone since its establishment.
Otumfuo used the occasion to advise policy makers and people managing the affairs of the country’s cocoa industry to make the welfare of the farmers their number one priority. He enumerated number of gains that Ghana as a country has gained through the enormous hard work of cocoa farmers.
Mr Emmanuel K. Arthur – Managing Director of KKL on behalf of Kuapa Kokoo thanked the Asantehene for the warm reception accorded the delegation. He also presented some items including chocolate from Divine-UK, traditional and assorted drinks, and a sheep on behalf of Kuapa to support Otumfuo’s 15th anniversary celebrations.
